Membrane Filtration Technology:
Membrane is a material with selective separation function. The process of separating, purifying and concentrating different components of feed liquid by selective separation of membrane is called membrane separation.
It differs from traditional filtration in that membranes can separate on a molecular scale, and the process is a physical process that does not require phase changes and additives.
The pore size of the membrane is generally nano-scale. According to the different pore size (or molecular weight cut off), the membrane can be divided into microfiltration membrane, ultrafiltration membrane, nanofiltration membrane and reverse osmosis membrane.
The basic principle of membrane separation:
During the filtration process, the feed liquid is pressurized by the pump, and the feed liquid flows along the surface of the filter membrane at a certain flow rate. The molecules of substances larger than the molecular weight cut-off of the membrane do not flow back to the material tank through the membrane, and the substances or molecules smaller than the molecular weight cut-off of the membrane flow back to the material tank. Through the membrane, a dialysate is formed. Therefore, the membrane system has two outlets, one is the return liquid (concentrate) outlet, and the other is the dialysate outlet.
Application:
Since the membrane separation process is a pure physical process, it has the characteristics of no phase change, energy saving, small size, and can be split, so that the membrane is widely used in fermentation, pharmaceutical, plant extraction, chemical, water treatment process and environmental protection industries.

Membrane:

Separation membranes can be seen as a barrier for separating two phases and as a selective transfer substance. It can be solid, liquid or gaseous, and the vast majority of separation membranes currently in use are solid-state membranes. A membrane can exist between two fluids or be attached to the micropores of a support or carrier, and the membrane thickness is much smaller than its specific surface area.

Membrane filter:

The method of separating, purifying and concentrating two-component or multi-component solutes and solvents with a specially manufactured membrane (separation membrane) with selective permeation properties under the impetus of external force is collectively referred to as membrane separation method.

Features of membrane separation:

1. There is no phase change in the membrane separation process, so the efficiency of energy conversion is high.
